Butterworth - A woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death after an argument over a cigarette has appeared in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

Captain Jackson Manatha said Sinazo Ngqoloda, 24, appeared in court on Monday.

“She was not asked to plead and her case was postponed to May 11, for further investigation. She remains in custody. The deceased [her boyfriend] was identified as Malizole Mputa aged 32.”

She allegedly stabbed Mputa at Skiet informal settlement on April 30.

“The boyfriend was stabbed on his upper body and died instantly. Police were informed of the murder and rushed to the scene of crime where they still found the suspect at the scene,” he said.

Manatha said the knife that was allegedly used to commit the crime was found on the scene.
