Youth in dock for lecturer’s murder

Bloemfontein - A youth who allegedly killed a University of the Free State lecturer appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday, police said.

The case against Khethang Abednego Ramolula, 18, was postponed to Tuesday for a formal bail application, Constable Sinah Mpakane said.

He was arrested on October 18. Lehlohonolo Mathengtheng's body was found in his flat in Willows, Bloemfontein on Sunday, September 28.

His throat had been slit. The alleged killer was believed to have been friends with him and a Grade 10 pupil at a local high school.

Mathengtheng, 27, was a graduate student and lecturer in the department of medical microbiology and virology at the UFS.
