Johannesburg - Three different of mobile applications are available to provide information on the country's upcoming general election, the IEC said on Friday.

“Voters will be able to access and follow the 2014 elections results real time throughout the capturing process through their mobile devices from anywhere and anytime,” the Electoral Commission of SA's (IEC) spokesman Libisi Maphanga said in a statement.

The first application provides information on how and where to vote, and about the various candidates and the result calculations.

The second application is a digital game called IXSA which introduces new voters to the voting process “in a fun, interactive and innovative way”.

Players pick an avatar and collect points along the way to “election day”.

The third application presents real-time access to election data.

Links to where they can be downloaded are on www.elections.org.za. They can be used on a wide variety of smartphone and tablet computers.
