Rustenburg – About 36 Community Development Workers (CDW) in Monnakato outside Rustenburg were given food parcels as part of the Nelson Mandela Day commemoration on Thursday.

ANC chief whip in the Rustenburg local municipality, Happy Serongwane, said the ANC in Monnakato bought food parcels for community workers as a token of appreciation for the work they did in the community and as a good will contribution.

“They clean our streets, they help the elderly to clean their houses. They volunteered their time for the community. In line with Nelson Mandela’s spirit we contributed this parcel,” said Serongwane.

Leader of the CDW group Dinah Mpofu said they were happy that the ANC has made contribution to them.

“Some of our workers do not come to work regularly stating that they did not have maize meal at home, with this contribution we will be able to cook at our work place.”
