Johannesburg - The third day of the African National Congress’s policy conference will get under way at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg, on Thursday.
Commissions were expected to provide a report back based on the discussions around the party's policies on Wednesday.
National executive member Jeff Radebe said on Wednesday that the 11 commissions would finish the debates on the documents on strategy and tactics, organisational renewal and the “second transition” by 5pm.
“We will only know on Thursday... as to what are the views of the branches and structures of the organisation,” he told media on day two of the four-day conference.
On Wednesday evening, sectoral policy commissions discussed the 11 discussion documents. These papers outlined proposals for social transformation, state intervention in the minerals sector, economic transformation and gender.
Also on the agenda were papers on peace and stability, education and health, communications, legislature and governance, international relations and land reform.
The report backs on these were also expected on Thursday.
Congress of South African Trade Unions chief Sidumo Dlamini said on Wednesday that the commissions were steering clear of the leadership succession debate.
“One thing that has been cleared is what Cosatu has warned against, that this debate is used as a debate on the succession on leadership in the ANC,” Dlamini said on the sidelines.
