Johannesburg - The ANC will hold meetings over the next several days to discuss ways of unifying Cosatu.

The meetings were confirmed by the federation’s general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi during a press conference in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The ANC will meet former Cosatu leaders on Saturday, and then on Monday it will meet with the federation’s National Office Bearers.

The meetings follow a decision by Cosatu’s central executive committee to reaffirm nine charges against Vavi.

The charges include maladministration relating to the sale and purchase of Cosatu buildings, and bringing the federation into disrepute for having sex with a junior colleague in the office.

Earlier this month Vavi’s staunchest ally, the National Union of Metalworkers of SA, was expelled from the federation.

Many senior leaders in Cosatu and the ANC believe that Vavi should remain in the federation because his dismissal could result in end of Cosatu.

Cosatu president S’dumo Dlamini announced on Thursday that Cosatu’s central committee, which was meant to start on Monday, had once again been postponed.
