Pretoria - Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza will undertake a two-day working visit to South Africa next week, the international relations department said on Friday.

“President Jacob Zuma will, on 4-5 November 2014, host President Pierre Nkurunziza of the Republic of Burundi... scheduled to take place in Cape Town,” spokesman Clayson Monyela said in a statement.

“President Zuma and President Nkurunziza are expected to discuss further co-operation in priority areas such as trade, health, arts and culture, mining, agriculture, higher education, and defence.”

This was Nkurunziza's first state visit to South Africa since he took office in 2005.

Two bilateral agreements were expected to be signed during the visit, Monyela said.

Zuma would be supported by International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Minister Senzeni Zokwana, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, and Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande.
