Johannesburg - ANC Youth League presidential contender Collen Maine has gotten the nod from Free State, in addition to North West, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga.

Free State ANCYL spokesman, Buti Mojalefa, said the province wanted Desmond Moela for deputy president; KZN’s Njabulo Nzuza as secretary-general and Bigo Mathe as treasurer.

The Eastern Cape provincial council, which was adjourned before the position of president could be pronounced on, has endorsed just one candidate: Mawethu Rune for secretary-general.

Last week North West endorsed Maine and his slate including Moela, Nzuza and others.

The Western Cape, meanwhile, wants Pule Mabe to be president, Lesego Makhubela as deputy president, Rune as secretary-general, its provincial chairman, Khalid Sayed as deputy SG and Victoria De Beer as treasurer.

The Gauteng provincial council was expected to get underway later on Thursday.
