Pretoria - More needs to be done, and faster, to implement the National Development Plan, President Jacob Zuma said on Friday.

“We noted the continued work of the Municipal Demarcation Board as mandated by the Constitution and are also pleased with the speed of implementation of the NDP by provinces and municipalities, but feel that more still needs to be done and at a greater speed,” he said in a statement.

It was issued after he convened a meeting of the president’s co-ordinating council, to hold talks with mayors and premiers.

Zuma said the meeting received a report that as of the end of January, all but one province managed to resolve more than 80 percent of the complaints about service delivery it had received.

The only exception, the Eastern Cape, got a 73 percent resolution rate since the establishment of the presidential hotline in 2009. This allows South Africans to complain about service delivery, make enquiries, and offer suggestions and compliments.
