Johannesburg - Following a scathing report by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, beleaguered SABC acting chief operations officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng said he felt strengthened and cheered by the support he had received.

“I am happy, stronger, and focusing on my work at the SABC,” he told journalists in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Motsoeneng thanked his supporters.

“I have been receiving calls and e-mails from people who support me, I thank them.”

His lawyer Zola Majavu was expected to brief journalists on Madonsela's report released on Monday.

Madonsela found, among other things, that Motsoeneng's appointment at the public broadcaster and his salary progression was irregular. - Sapa
