Cape Town - Parliament is yet to receive Police Minister Nathi Nhleko’s long-awaited report on the question of whether President Jacob Zuma would be obliged to reimburse the state for improvements to his Nkandla home, the legislature said in a statement on Thursday.

“The National Assembly (NA) Programme Committee at its regular meeting this (Thursday) morning agreed to establish a joint ad hoc committee, comprising members of the NA and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), to process Police Minister Mr Nathi Nhleko’s report on Nkandla,” the statement said.

“The report has not yet been received by Parliament.”

Last week, Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbete said she was in contact with Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa on the matter in his capacity as leader of government business.

The report relates to recommendations by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela that Zuma should pay back a portion of the R246 million spent on security upgrades to his KwaZulu-Natal private home.

Madonsela found Zuma and his family had unduly benefitted from the upgrade project.
