Cape Town - The presidency announced on Thursday that Bongani Ngqulunga has been appointed permamently as deputy director general in the presidency and head of the private office of President Jacob Zuma.

Ngqulunga has been acting in that position since Lakela Kaunda left it in November last year to become chief operations officer in the presidency.

Ngqulunga has worked in the presidency since 2006, while Thabo Mbeki was still president, first as a policy analyst and later serving as chief of staff in the office of the director general and secretary of Cabinet, in an acting capacity.

Since 2010, he has been working as chief director of special projects in Zuma’s private office.

“The presidency wishes Dr Ngqulunga all the best in his new responsibilities,” presidency spokesman Harold Moloka said.
