Johannesburg - No settlement deal has been presented to public works department officials facing a disciplinary hearing over upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla residence, the PSA said on Wednesday.
“Nothing has come out about a settlement,” Public Servants' Association KwaZulu-Natal provincial manager Claude Naiker said.
“They want to go ahead with the hearings. The first hearing is on November 17.”
The Citizen reported on Wednesday that the State wanted to sign a deal with the “fall guys” and avoid a hearing.
The paper reported that the deal would mean the 12 employees would not have to reveal details of the R246 million upgrade to Zuma's private home.
According to the paper, the 12 and their lawyers wanted access to classified and sensitive Nkandla security documents that would enable them to properly prepare for the hearings.
Naiker said the members would not plead guilty to the charges.
“Our members are all pleading not guilty at this stage. We will be assisting our members on a daily basis during the hearings,” he said.
