South Africans are using the Internet to criticise and show support for ANCYL leader Julius Malema following allegations about the source of his money in the past two weeks.

“I don't know what to think anymore. Is Malema worth trusting? He has lost all credibility and in my opinion lost a supporter,” Alex Madlala wrote on News24's website, in a comment on a story that Malema paid R2 million in cash for a Sandton, Johannesburg house costing R3.6 million.

“Maybe he should move away from politics. It is obviously not for him.”

Commenting on the same story on City Press's website, Sonet vd Westhuizen said Malema was acting on behalf of government officials and ministers.

“If it is true that contractors, individuals and politicians deposit money into the (Ratanang Family) trust, as alleged by City Press sources, in exchange for securing tenders, clearly he is acting as a middle man in a much bigger plot... .I do not think he has access to govt tenders himself. A proper Investigation should be done.”

On the Mail and Guardian's website, one Shaman Sans Frontieres, wrote: “Ho ho I am a private person. Just that I'm the most important private person and I am the private person who demands that private property be made public via nationalisation.”

Others however vowed to remain loyal to Malema.

“I don't care what they are saying. Stay strong and know that I am praying for you,” Bongi Mathale posted on social networking site Facebook.

“I still love you.”

Last week, the African National Congress Youth League said the Ratanang Family Trust, named after Malema's son, was being used to fund charitable causes, and was tax compliant.

The league said it would not answer questions relating to the Johannesburg home, as it was Malema's personal business. - Sapa
