Johannesburg - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela could give US singer Miley Cyrus a run for her money with her own version of the popstar's “Wrecking Ball”.

In a parody video on the ZA News website, a puppet version of the public protector dressed in a white overall sings about her woes over her report on the Nkandla saga.

A description of the video, released earlier this month, describes Madonsela as “breaking walls and baring her soul”.

The video starts with a close-up of the puppet Madonsela, tears running down her face.

“I thought I wrote a good report, I did my job. I had to try to think objectively, I thought the facts, no one could deny,” she sings.

“Don't ever say I support DA, I respected you. I can't tell a lie and say it's fine to have a kraal and a chicken run too.”

Madonsela, armed with a sledge hammer, sings about how she “came in like a wrecking ball, causing problems for the ANC”.

As she walks away with a wrecking ball crashing into a wall behind her she laments how she tried to protect everyone, but that everyone hated her.

“I thought you would appreciate how fair and balanced I had been. It just isn't true, that I do what I do for Helen or Juju,” Madonsela sings as she sits on top of the swinging wrecking ball.

The African National Congress has accused Madonsela of being biased towards Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille and, more recently, towards Economic Freedom Fighters' leader Julius Malema.

Public spending on the security upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal homestead have turned into one of the major controversies of his presidency, as costs escalated to R246

million.

It emerged the project included a pool (called a fire pool by government), an amphitheatre, a cattle kraal, and a chicken run.

The parody video ends with Madonsela singing about Zuma's so-called fire pool.

“I just wanted to inform you all that it was not a fire pool, it was a swimming pool. A fucking swimming pool.”

The clip ends with a smashed slate with the word firepool written on it.

The lyrics for the song were written by comedian Deep Fried Man.
