Johannesburg - The amphitheatre at the Union Buildings will be renamed the Nelson Mandela Amphitheatre, President Jacob Zuma said on Tuesday.

Zuma said it was an honour to do this.

“Tomorrow our people will accompany Madiba on his last journey to the seat of government where his body will lie for three days,” said Zuma.

He promised to continue building a nation free of hunger and inequality.

Zuma sent his condolences to the Mandela family.

“Rest in peace our father and hero.”

Zuma was speaking at a memorial service for Mandela at the FNB stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg.
