Pretoria - The presidency on Saturday reiterated that President Jacob Zuma has no Facebook account.

“The presidency wishes to alert users of social media that any Facebook account purporting to be that of President Jacob Zuma is a fake,” it said in a statement.

“The president does not have a personal Facebook account. The official Facebook page of the presidency is: https://www.facebook.com/PresidencyZA, it said.

Some time ago, the presidency removed fake pages on Facebook, “put up by impostors claiming to speak on behalf of the man holding the highest office in the land”.

“President Zuma does not have a personal Facebook account and is reachable through the Presidency Facebook page and his personal Twitter account only,” the SA Government News Agency (SANews) reported at the time.

“Any supposed 'Jacob Zuma' page on Facebook is fake and run by impostors,” it said.

The official Twitter accounts of the presidency had a blue tick next to the user name to indicate they had been verified by Twitter.
