Pretoria - Jacob Zuma has officially started his second term as the president of South Africa. He has taken the oath under chief justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.

Praise singer Zolani Mkiva, who used to praise late president Nelson Mandela, performed a rendition just after Zuma took oath.

Members of the South African Defence Force did a 21 gun salute and a fly-past using helicopters BK 117, Agusta A109, the Oryx and the Rooivalk.

The largest formation of the day , Callsign Astra, consisted of 22 Pilatus PC-7 MK2's, including the Silver Falcon. The formation in the shape of the number 20 symbolised the celebration of 20 years of democracy.

Zuma is expected to address the nation shortly. - Pretoria News Weekend
