Two brothers accused of being masterminds behind the 2006 OR Tambo International airport heist had their case postponed in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Lawyer Rooshdeen Rudolph, 45, and his brother Shaheed, 44, were expected to appear again on May 5, said prosecutor Willemiena Vos.

She said the case was postponed for further investigations.

The two brothers were arrested in October last year after three state witnesses accused them of being the masterminds behind the robbery that saw a substantial amount of foreign currency stolen from an SA Airways cargo plane at OR Tambo International Airport on March 25, 2006.

Twelve people are standing trial in the Johannesburg High Court for the same crime.

Three others, Magdeline Moonsammy, 26, Sean Soobramoney, 33, and Ishmail Nazir, 40, entered into plea agreements with the state in October last year and pleaded guilty.

Two others - Themba Phuyitsi, 34, and Tebogo Nhlapo, 31, - died of natural causes while they were awaiting trial. - Sapa
