Rustenburg - A woman was shot dead in Ngcingwana near Dutywa, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.
Captain Jackson Manatha said Nobonke Gcilitshane, 53, was shot dead on Sunday by an unknown gunman.
Manatha said the gunman first met Gcilitshane’s two granddaughters, before the girls could tell the man where their granny was, she came out of the house as the dogs were barking.
“The suspect fired some shots to the direction of the deceased hitting her on her upper body. She was rushed to the local clinic but was declared dead on her arrival at the clinic.”
The gunman ran away after shooting the woman.
“A case of murder has been opened at Dutywa police station and no one has been arrested yet,” he said.
