Qunu - Nelson Mandela's former praise singer Zolani Mkiva gave a passionate introduction for President Jacob Zuma at the former president's state funeral in Qunu on Sunday.

In his praise song, Mkiva, who was dressed in black with a leopard skin draped over his left shoulder, also acknowledged Mandela.

Zuma then sang an old struggle song ahead of his address.

"We, the black nation, are crying for our land which was taken by the white people.

"They should leave our land alone," he sang.

"The children are crying for the nation which was taken by the white people," Zuma sang in Zulu.

Mourners stood on their feet, and sang along with him. - Sapa
