Pretoria - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela will on Wednesday release the results of her investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds by the former Eastern Cape MEC for social development Pemmy Majodina.

The complaint was lodged by the Congress of the People’s Samson Kwelita.

Kwelita alleged that Majodina demanded and was paid four times the prescribed subsistence and travel allowance for a trip to New York in 2012.

He further alleges that Majodina’s chief of staff at the time, Nozibele Majikija, also received an excessive travel allowance for the same trip.

In September last year, Majodina and her entourage undertook another visit to the United States, apparently to hand deliver an invitation to human rights activist Jesse Jackson to attend the South African Traditional Music Awards.
