Johannesburg - About 45 pupils have fallen sick at a school in Botshabelo, Bloemfontein, on Thursday, paramedics reported.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said learners complained of stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

“The exact cause of the children feeling ill is unknown, however, paramedics were told that there was a funeral on Wednesday. Lunch was made for the children and they had the same food in the evening leading to them feeling sick,” she said in a statement.

The children were treated and transported to Mediclinic Bloemfontein.
