Johannesburg - A man was slightly injured when a train collided with his bakkie in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, paramedics said.

A 70-year-old man sustained moderate injuries when a train collided with his bakkie on a level-crossing near Church Street in Hamilton, Bloemfontein, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

Paramedics found two badly damaged vehicles on the railway tracks. The driver of the other vehicle was unhurt.

Local authorities were investigating the cause of the accident.
