Bloemfontein – A tow trucker died in an accident along the R64 (Old Kimberley Road) in Bloemfontein on Sunday morning, paramedics said.

Reports indicated that the tow trucker was standing on the centre median loading a vehicle onto a flatbed truck when a car veered off the road and slammed into him, Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said in a statement.

“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the man, in his 50s, had been pinned between the truck and the car, causing life-threatening injuries.

“Medics worked tirelessly to stabilise the man on scene; after he was immobilised on a trauma board they transported him to a local hospital under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic.

“Tragically the man died in hospital due to the extensive injuries that he sustained,” Botha said.
