Johannesburg - Fifteen people were injured when a train travelling from Pretoria to Johannesburg derailed, Ekhurhuleni emergency services said on Friday.

“Two of the people have been seriously injured. The other 13 have minor injuries,” said spokesman William Ntladi.

He said a locomotive and passenger carriage derailed just after 7am on Friday morning.

All the injured, including the driver and his assistant, were taken to various hospitals.

The cause of the derailment was not yet known, said Ntladi. - Sapa
