Johannesburg - A man was in a serious condition after a motorcycle collision in Fairlands, Johannesburg, reported paramedics on Friday.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the accident occurred at the Bayers Naude Drive and Monker Road intersection in the area. “Paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the biker on the side of the road with his bike lying 50 metres away,” he said.

Meiring said that a light motor vehicle that the bike had collided with, was parked a few metres away.

“On assessment of the patient, paramedics found that the patient was in a serious condition, with injuries to his legs and pelvis,” Meiring said.

He said that paramedics treated the patient and provided him with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Mediclinic Sandton.

The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
