Johannesburg - No explosives were found at the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements offices in the Johannesburg CBD on Monday.

“We are happy that no explosive device was found in the building and that everyone is safe and back at work,” said department’s spokesman Motsamai Motlhaolwa.

Police evacuated the building early Monday after they received a tip-off that there was a bomb in the premises.

Human Settlements MEC Jacob Mamabolo condemned the incident.

“This is disappointing and is a clear sign that there people in our society who are irresponsible, we condemn this irresponsible action.’

“We are happy that everyone was safely evacuated to enable the police to do their work,” he said.

Motlhaolwa said an investigation by police was underway.
