Johannesburg - Veteran cameraman Dudley Saunders was killed when he was hit by a train while filming in Soweto, SABC news reported on Tuesday.

Saunders, who documented much of the pre-1994 elections unrest, was filming for the BBC at the time of his death.

He recently worked on SABC's Special Assignment and M-Net's Carte Blanche programmes.

Saunders was the son of former political journalist Cliff Saunders. - Sapa
