Johannesburg - About 15 shacks were destroyed on Saturday, by a fire in Msawawa informal settlement, in Kya Sands, Johannesburg emergency services said.
“About 15 shacks were destroyed when one of the shacks caught fire in the early hours of Saturday morning at around 12am,” said spokesman Robert Mulaudzi.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was being investigated and disaster management officials were facilitating a relief process, he said.
Mulaudzi urged communities to use their heating and lighting appliances with caution. - Sapa
