Pretoria - A Tshwane metro firefighter suffered serious burns while trying to put out a veld fire with colleagues in Centurion, emergency services said on Thursday.
“He and his colleagues were trying to put out a veld fire when it changed direction as a result of a strong wind,” spokesman Johan Pieterse said.
He was airlifted to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg with burns to 50 percent of his body.
