Johannesburg - Four men were found dead inside a car in what appears to have been an accident in Snake Park in Dobsonville, Soweto, Gauteng police said on Monday.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the four were found trapped inside a car on Sunday.

“It appears the car hit rocks before it crashed into a tree,” he said.

“They were declared dead at the scene. It is not clear what caused the car to hit a tree, we have opened a capable homicide case.”

He said post-mortems would be conducted to determined the cause of death.

In a separate incident a man was found dead with an open wound in his upper body in Braamfischerville, also in Dobsonville.

Makhubela said the man's cousin found him on Sunday.

“We have opened a murder case and no arrest has been made.” - Sapa
