Johannesburg - A 12-year-old girl was rescued after she was found trapped under a bakkie that had oveturned on the R28 near Westonaria, paramedics said on Friday.
“The girl was trapped under the overturned vehicle from her waist down. “She was in a serious condition with multiple injuries,” said ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak.
The local fire department used specialised equipment to stabilise the vehicle and lift it from the girl.
Her grandfather, 51, and another girl were found trapped in the vehicle.
The grandfather told paramedics that he tried to swerve for a stationary vehicle in the road when he lost control of his bakkie.
The three were transferred to hospital for further treatment. - Sapa
