Marches against violence in Joburg

Johannesburg - Two protest marches will take place in Johannesburg on Saturday organised by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) and the ANC Youth League, metro police said.

Both marches began at 11am and end around 2pm, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

The UCKG would march in the Johannesburg CBD from 25 Plein street, continue onto Klein street, then into Pretoria street, Catherine street, Kotze street, Clain street then onto Jeppe street before returning to their starting point, he said.

The church was marching against violence.

The second march, by the African National Congress Youth League, would begin at Progress House in Bordeaux, Randburg, Minnaar said.

The march would continue onto Bram Fischer drive, then turn west onto Harley street, north into Pretoria street and then south onto Bram Fischer drive. The march would end at the Randburg licensing office where a memorandum would be handed over to the member of the mayoral committee (MMC) for Public Safety Sello Lemao.
