Pretoria -

When the school year started, the Mahlangu siblings were happy to be back at school.

The two children, Ntando and Vusimusi, were pulled out of school at the end of last year after their sisters died of alleged poisoning at Ema Primary School in Winterveld, Tshwane.

The family removed the children from the school at the beginning of the fourth term so they could be home-schooled.

Their sisters, Precious Msiza and Mbali Mahlangu, and their friend Sibongile Mahleya died in September after suspected poisoning at school.

The two families believe someone at the school deliberately poisoned the girls.

A preliminary report found dough in the children’s bodies.

Since their deaths, the two families have been waiting for a final report from the department.

They say they have had no communication from the Gauteng Department of Education in this regard.

Ntando is repeating Grade 1 and Vusimusi is repeating Grade R.

Department spokeswoman Nanagolo Leopeng said they had concluded the investigation and were now awaiting lab results to conclude the report and then release it.

It is unclear when the lab results will be available.
