Johannesburg - Gautrain's Sandton, Johannesburg, operation was disrupted on Tuesday when a suspicious parcel was found, its operator said.

“Yes, that's correct. The police verified that it was not a dangerous parcel and they disposed of it,” Bombela Concession Company spokesman Errol Braithwaite said.

“As soon as our security noticed the parcel, we started to evacuate passengers from the Sandton station.”

Other trains in operation bypassed the station and did not stop.

“Those trains ran through Sandton station, and they didn't stop to drop off or pick up people. The disruption was literally less than half an hour.”

Braithwaite said operations were back to normal.
