Johannesburg - Two men were killed in an accident in Bapsfontein, east of Johannesburg, on Friday, paramedics said.

“Two men were killed, one of whom was burnt alive, when a bakkie, taxi and truck collided on the R50 in Bapsfontein, Johannesburg East this morning,” ER24 spokeswoman Luyanda Majija said.

The collision apparently occurred when the taxi, while attempting to overtake the bakkie, collided with the truck head-on.

The taxi driver was thrown from the taxi and died on the scene, while the bakkie driver burnt to death inside his vehicle.

The passengers sustained no serious injuries, but were in shock. They were taken to hospital for observation.

The accident is being investigated.
