Pretoria - No complaint has been laid about an alleged racist incident that happened outside a University of Pretoria (UP) residence, the university said on Monday.

“The statement by Afriforum was sent to the media, but to date no complaints were made through any of the University of Pretoria's channels,” spokeswoman Nicolize Mulder said in an e-mail to Sapa.

“After the statement was released today, the university did start an investigation into the matter.”

Earlier on Monday, Afriforum Youth said in a statement that white students at the Taaibos residence were racially abused by two unknown black students from the Kollege Tehuis residence on September 4.

Apparently one of the two black students told white students at the Taaibos gates that he hated whites and he wanted to kill all whites.

“AfriForum Youth requested UP management to investigate the incident with the necessary urgency,” spokeswoman Monique du Randt said.

“This incident once again proves that all races are affected by racism. AfriForum Youth requested the university to be consequential when implementing disciplinary steps in all racism-related incidents.”

She said the matter needed to be addressed urgently.
