Durban - A 10-year-old boy was impaled through the foot when he jumped a wall and landed on an iron rod while running away from a dog in Bonela, Durbanon Thursday evening.
Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, said boy had leapt over a two-metre-high wall when he came down on the rod.
Paramedics stabilised the child and used advanced life support to sedate him before the Jaws of Life were used to cut the rod.
“After the steel rod was cut, paramedics transported the child to hospital so that surgeons could remove it from his foot,” he said.
