Durban - A person died after being flung out of a car and then hit by another car after a collision on the N11 close to the R34 off-ramp near Newcastle, paramedics said on Friday.

ER24 spokesman Pieter Rossouw said the car was allegedly hit by the truck on Friday night.

“It is understood that the driver of the light motor vehicle was either flung from the vehicle or exited the vehicle thereafter,” he said.

“Another vehicle, a bakkie, then allegedly ran over the person who was out of the vehicle. When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found that the driver of the vehicle had already succumbed to his injuries.”

Rossouw said the cause of the accident would be investigated.
