Durban - A man has died and 10 others were injured in a collision between a car and a bakkie on KwaZulu-Natal’s south coast on Tuesday.

Robert McKenzie, the spokesman for KwaZulu-Natal’s provincial Emergency Medical Service, said the man had still been alive when paramedics arrived at the accident scene on the N2 near Izingolweni.

“The condition of the young man, who had been critically injured, deteriorated and he sadly died despite an advanced life support resuscitation effort by EMS paramedics,” said McKenzie.

McKenzie said that most of the injured were passengers in the bakkie. All the injured were transported by EMS and other ambulance services to Murchison Hospital in Paddock.

The cause of the collision was still unknown, and police were continuing an investigation into the accident. .

Izingolweni is located about 40 kilometres inland from Port Shepstone.
