Durban - One person died and 16 others were injured when a minibus taxi collided with a car in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, paramedics said.

“When provincial paramedics and fire and rescue services arrived on scene, they found one person entrapped in the car. He was assessed and unfortunately, he had already succumbed to his injuries,” said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.

Those injured, who included a two-year-old boy, were transported to hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident was not known.
