One dead, 6 injured after vehicle rolls

Cape Town - A man died and six others were injured on Thursday after a vehicle rolled near Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal, ER24 paramedics said.

“One person died and six others were injured when a vehicle rolled on the N11 about 10 kilometres south of Newcastle, towards Ladysmith,” ER24’s Chitra Bodasing said.

The paramedics said that a light delivery vehicle’s tyre burst, causing it to roll into an embankment. The vehicle landed on its roof. “When we and other paramedics arrived on scene we found one person, who was ejected from the vehicle, lying on the grass. The man, in his 30s, was assessed. Unfortunately, he had succumbed to his injuries.”

Two other occupants, a man and a 30-year-old woman, had to be extricated from the vehicle. The woman was in a critical condition having sustained multiple injuries, the rest of the occupants had sustained minor to moderate injuries .

The injured occupants were transported to a nearby hospital while authorities were on the scene to investigate.
