Durban - Six people have died in separate accidents at the weekend in KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said on Sunday.

Two of them died in a car accident on the R612 near Umzinto on Saturday night, said provincial Emergency Medical Services spokesman Robert Mckenzie.

Another ten people were injured and taken to GJ Crookes Hospital.

It was unclear if other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Mckenzie did not provide further details on the accident.

“As EMS we do not comment on the cause of motor vehicle accidents,” he said.

Another two people died when a truck and car collided on the R34 in Empangeni on Sunday morning.

A third person was critically injured and taken to hospital, said McKenzie.

Another person died in a bakkie accident on the R66, near the Mbilane bridge, on Sunday morning. Ten others were injured, some critically. They were taken to the Nkonjeni Hospital.

The cause of the accident was unknown.

In KwaMashu, a man was killed after being hit by a car on Sunday morning.
