With only four days left before the Top Gear Festival starts in Durban, car fever can be felt across the province – with motorists likely to catch a glimpse of the country’s hottest super cars as they are motored into the city.

On Thursday, the Super Car Lifestyle organisation will make their way from Joburg to Durban in a 3km-long convoy of super cars including Aston Martins, Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis.

Super Car Lifestyle owner Ross Crichton, said that 65 supercars would be driven by their owners for the Top Gear Festival as one of the event’s super car suppliers.

“We were approached by Top Gear for the event,”said Crichton.

He explained that super car owners did not often have a chance to show off their vehicles.

They invested large sums in their super car hobby and then made themselves available for big shows like Top Gear.

About 30 other vehicles from owners in Durban will join the Joburg fleet for the event at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The convoy will travel from Joburg on the N3, making pit stops at Montrose, Mooi River and the Drakensberg Sun.

Super cars expected to make up the convoy include the new Lamborghini Aventador, Audi R8 and the Ferrari 458 Spyder.

On Saturday the super cars will be on show at the event at one of the spectator viewing areas and they will also being doing a run around one of the circuits for spectators to witness the vehicles’ performance. - The Mercury
