Durban - A fire on the N2 in Durban following a collision between two tankers caused the highway to be closed on Tuesday morning.

Two people were treated for minor injuries, spokesman for KwaZulu-Natal’s Emergency Medical Service Robert Mckenzie said.

He said paramedics at the scene had reported that a diesel and petrol tanker had crashed near the Sarnia Road bridge over the N2.

The blaze had spread forcing the closure of the N2 in both directions and the eThekwini Fire Brigade were battling the blaze.

Comment was not immediately available from the eThekwini Fire Brigade or the eThekwini Metro Police.
