Durban - Three people died and two others were critically injured when a truck and a light motor vehicle collided on the R617 between Bulwer and Underberg in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands on Wednesday, paramedics said.

The three people, two men and a woman, were passengers in the light motor vehicle, while the truck driver and the fourth passenger in the motor vehicle were critically injured.

They were treated on scene and taken to St Appollinaris Hospital for further medical care.
