Durban – A truck driver was killed when his truck collided with another truck on the R34 in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday, provincial paramedics said.

The driver, in his 60’s, died on the scene. The other driver, who was transporting logs, was not injured, said spokesman Robert McKenzie.

Authorities closed the road for several hours to clear debris and remove the trucks from the scene.

“It is not clear how the accident happened. The police were investigating the crash,” said McKenzie.
