A man died in Polokwane, Limpopo, on Thursday morning when around a ton of steel pipes fell on him, paramedics said.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was loosening the bound-together pipes when they fell on him, said ER24 spokeswoman Chitra Bodasing.

“A side wall collapsed in the process. People removed some of the pipes lying on top of the man. When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they assessed the man.”

Following assessment, it appeared the man died from the multiple injuries he sustained from the falling pipes.
