If you were wondering what the theme for the famous Mother City Queer Project costume party is going to be this year - rather think one up for yourself.

This time around organisers are calling on the public for suggestions on what to theme Cape Town's biggest costume party.

Celebrating it's 12th birthday on December 17, the internationally recognised gay-theme party had attracted planeloads from across the continents.

With Jungle Fever as last year's theme and Kitch Kitchen the year before, a world of creativity awaits.

MCQP architect Andre Vorster said it was great that people could decide on the theme of this year's party.

"We sent out an email and already we have received lots of exciting suggestions. We've had responses from Canada, Los Angeles and France."

He said he had been toying around with different ideas like the circus and the zoo but it would be quite nice to see what people's suggestions were.

Where are they planning to host this year's event?

Vorster said: "We are exploring different venues but it will definitely be in the City Bowl."

"The closer to Table Mountain the better."

The party will from this year be managed by six shareholders, including former Cape Town Tourism head Sheryl Ozinsky.

Raymond Bloom of Samurai Experiential Marketing, who has also joined the team, said they aimed to turn the party into a festival over the next three to five years.

To enter your idea visit www.mcqp.co.zaor send an e-mail to [email protected] August 31.

Whoever comes up with the winning idea will receive two nights accommodation at the Barrydale Hotel, and complimentary tickets.
